The 2010 Chateau Maison Blanche Medoc Cru Bourgeois begins with a rich, savory, simply beautiful aroma full of plum, raspberry, black cherry, blueberry, vanilla, chocolate and lots of spice. This one has it all and it just sucks you right into the glass. The love fest continues in the mouth with this extremely tasty wine featuring fresh juicy acidity, lots more rich fruit, well integrated spice and smooth silky tannins. While Bordeaux often conjures up images of wines made to age for decades, this 2010 is a very fun, drink me now version. It ends dry and grippy on the finish with a bit of a minerality streak under the continuing juicy fruit. Fantastic stuff!
The Chateau Maison Blanche Medoc Cru Bourgeois is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20%Cabernet Sauvignon from Medoc, Bordeaux, France. It spends 12 months in oak barrels.
The vineyard:
- Area under vine: 28 hectares
- Age of the vines: 20 years on average. The oldest go back to 1954.
- Ageing: 75% in French oak barrels (1/3 new) for 12 months
Winemaking:
- Wine from each individual plot is separately fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats.
- Maceration: slow and long (30 days)
- Ageing: 75% in French oak barrels (1/3 new) for 12 months
